About the Honeoye Falls Bill Koch Youth Ski League; a program of the New York State Ski Racing Association (NYSSRA):
Who or what is a Bill Koch (pron: Coke)??!
The program is named for Olympic Silver medalist Bill Koch. Bill, a native of nearby Vermont, began skiing in the early 1970's in a local ski club, and in 1976 he shocked the ski world with taking a silver medal in the 30 kilometer event at the Winter Olympic Games in Innsbruck, Austria.

A few years later, he won the World Cup series. Bill is often credited with starting the "skating technique" that so dramatically changed cross country skiing in the 1980's.

PURPOSE
The whole motivations of NYSSRA-Nordic's Bill Koch Youth Ski League program are to get kids and families out of doors to enjoy winter; share the fun of Nordic ski sport; and benefit from the fitness that our fun and games provide.

If you are a beginner of any age, we can help get you started with equipment suggestions/fittings, technique help and camraderie. If you already enjoy Nordic skiing either recreationally or competitively, we can help you move to the next levels of opportunities in our winter sports.

Goals
A goal of the New York State Ski Racing Assocaition (NYSSRA) is to see more BKYSL graduates continue racing in statewide competitions such as the Empire State Winter Games, Junior Olympic qualifiers, and other national and international competitions.

But above all, we want to see more people enjoy the recreational opportunites of Nordic ski sport....a sport that can be, and is, enjoyed right thru the senior years.
